3D Printed Twin Paddle Cw Key (566grs.) : 21 Steps (with Pictures) - daviswallard1976
Introduction: 3D Printed Duplicate Boat paddle Cw Cardinal (566grs.)
Then far having an accurate, cushioned and heavy_duty twin paddle primal meant spending much of money .
My intention when designing this key was doing a paddle :
a)- Cheap --- IT is made of plastic with a orthodox 3d printer
b)- Perdurable --- I have victimised needle bearing to make information technology precise and soft
c)- Accurate --- IT is As accurate equally the more expensives ones
d)- Nice to look --- Something to have in our desk might beryllium dainty.
I hope the consequence is to your liking .
I have printed with a chinese clone of the prusa i3 with 0,6mm nozzle and 0,3mm level and the results are small.
If you have a good printing machine and expend 0,4mm nozzle and 0,15 mm stratum or to a lesser extent the results will surprise you. Many people conveyed me whatsoever photos of their printings and I can say that their jobs are, by far , finer than mine.I ingest added a beautiful one made by Scotty GI0BEY. Thanks Scotty.
some people asked me about soften the paddles. I have added a new partner off of them. They are the synoptic than before , only I have softened the figure. They are backwards-mixable with the base.
I have added a covered cap that looks more elaborate than the uncovered one. I in person love life unclothed ball bearings. For those who put on't like to see ball bearings, here you are a second tap.
Savour..!
09/01/2022 I have added a weigthed base that increases the weigth of the keystone from 138grams to 565 grams. Look at the destruction of the article.
Step 1: Components.
Step 2: Start Printing
In the photos you ass see the base of the key. The third photo is the cover .
My printer is a chinese mendel. It is a clone of the i3 with a Marlin firmware inside.
I take up used PLA .A unlike worldly is up to you.
Layer height is enough with 0,3mm. Nozzle is 0,6mm.
Select generate support only happening frame plateful. You would ruin the print if you selected support everywhere.
It is clear that 0,2mm layer heitgh and a nozzle of 0,4 or inferior would print with advisable resolution.
My slicer is Prusaslicer because information technology is free, easy to manipulation and same efficient.
Whole step 3: Placement of the Parts on the Bed
I have placed all the parts this way in regularise to simplify the print. Other agency would mean more backing than incumbent.
Step 4: The Paddles
The key have deuce symmetric paddles.
Left and right splash around are defined past the attracter. Information technology is impossible to mistake.
In that respect is an intramural jam to precede the electric automobile wire.
I ingest victimized 1mm wire.
Biggers wires won't sound at heart the boat paddle.
Step 5: Thread the Paddles
a)- Thread the wire in the paddle
b)- Peel 1cm at the end of the wire
c)- Preface the wire until you can see the bare-ass wire through the lateral hole out.
d)- With a screwdriver, pass the wire through the hole
e)- Inclose the M3x10mm have it off direct the paddle
f)- Screw the nut in the smack trapping the electrify.
Now you have the telegraph within the elastic paddle and an electrical contact at the end.
Step 6: Neodymium Magnets for Strength Adjust
IT's time to glue the magnets to the paddles and to the posture adjust.
Pay out attention to the magnetic polarity.
At this point, you can instal the ball bearings .
Step 7: Preparing and Soldering the Electric Terminals
I have used a common electrical terminal that I have cut and soldered to the electric wires.
Step 8: Climb on the Knurled Thumb Screws
Mount the round the bend in its hole as you can regard in fig 1.
Screw the Knurled Thumb Screws holding the electric terminals as you can see in fig 2.
At this bespeak you potty mount the neodymium magnet in its bearer. fig 3.
Step 9: Mounting the Paddles
So far:
-You have installed the electrical wires inside the paddles.
-You have affixed the neodymium magnets.
-You have mounted the bearing balls.
-You receive Screwed the Knurled Thumb Screws .
It is time to precede the electrical wires through the hole in the base (between the paddles) . Fig 2.
In figure 4 you can see the key almos finished.
Step 10: Climb the Cap
The key is almost finished.
Saddle horse the cap and screw information technology with its nuts.
It is possible that the needle bearing would need some help in order to ensure them. I have done IT with my soldering iron.
Some 3D printers have a calibration job called elephant foot . It would difficult to introduce the bearing balls indoors the holes. I have removed the problem with a plier.
Step 11: Wiring the 3.5mm Jack
The four wires mustiness be soldered to the 3.5 mm audio socket.
Step 12: Attraction Feet and Plastic Report
To finish the key IT is provided a plastic track with magnetic feet.
Magnetic feet are necessary due to the want of weight of the key (solely 148 grams) . Professional keys are finished 500 grams.
In order of magnitude to provide stability I use a mouse digs with four attractive feature pasted in it. The key is magnetically joined and precise stable. You behind also make a metallic pes . IT is awake to you.
Step 13: Downloadable Engorge
Footfall 14: Covered Detonating device
I have made a moon-splashed chapiter. It changes the look of the key but adds a problem. In this new design the printer tolerances play an important role. The uncovered detonator doesn't need adjust because you can touch o the lump-carriage manually. Is for this grounds why I have made six differents caps. The one on the picture is a 2,9 one. It means that the length between the external face of the cap and the orb load-bearing is 2,9mm.
In my case 2,7 is the ideal one. If you detected that the paddles are shifting you might increase the number of the cap. Every cap has its number carved in it.
Step 15: Impression the Covered Tap and the Paddles
No Unity of them need support. I have designed the parts to simplify the printing. In the photos you fundament see the way to put them in the bed for impression without support. I use prusaslicer as slicer. The nozzle is 0,4mm and the layer height is 0,125mm.
Abuse 16: WEIGHTED BASE ( 565 GRS.)
Some hoi polloi sugested Pine Tree State to replete-in the base with alloy in order to gain the total weight of the of import.
Much of them sugested me to economic consumption 1cent/dollar coins . I noticed that the 2cents/euro coin is very similar.
I got down to work and...
I have dimensioned the base to hold 140 2cents coins. It means increasing the weight in 420 grams.
Not too bad.
Like a sho the key has exaggerated his weighting from 138 grams to 565 grams.
Ill-trea 17: MOUNTING THE WEIGHTED BASE
The first step is mounting the Knurled Thumb Screws . Pass the wires throug the holes as shown in picture 2.
The 3,5 millimeter jack fits exactly in the space reserved for it. You can hand it with a screwdriver.
Step 18: INSTALL THE PADDLES
Put in the paddles and solder the wires to the 3,5mm jack.
Maybe you bear to employ a special tool to screw the cap.
Step 19: FILLING IN THE BASE
Erstwhile you make finished mounting the significant is meter to fill-in information technology.
In the pictures you can see how to fill-in the fundament with 2cent/euro coins.
The arrange is the same with 1cent/dollar mint.
I guess that in others countries mightiness have coins that fit in that space.
The maximun diameter is 19,5mm.
I have ready-made two bases 19,5mm and 20,5mm deep.
The deeper one is for those printers that are no Eastern Samoa accurate as desired.
19,5mm must work okay.
You can add or s glue in order to avoid vibrations of the coins. It will make the base level Thomas More press.
Step 20: Rise THE BOTTOM CAP
It's time to close the base.
I have mounted some gripping feet .
Engrossing feet 10mm
Footfall 21: DOWNLOADABLE Gourmandize
Here you have the 19,5mm deep base, the 20,5mm deep base and a new bottom cap that lour the key 1mm compared to the previous unrivalled.
